SPRING STYLE: DRESSED DOWN FLORALS

Maybe it’s that I’ve seen one too many couches upholstered in fabric loaded with blooms in dusty shades of pink at my grandmas’ houses, but doesn’t it seem like florals come off a bit formal? Like they should be worn to fancy lunches where people enjoy tea and little cucumber sandwiches. While I do love a good ladies who lunch moment, that type of style couldn’t be further from my own, which, while still feminine, leans to the sportier side.

With Easter come and gone, it’s finally feeling a little like spring. Oh wait, that’s right. It snowed in NYC yesterday. 🙄 Current Mindset: If spring weather isn’t willing to come, I’m going to bring it to me, and make it my own. I wore this dressed down floral outfit out for brunch with friends the other day, and I’ve gotta say, I may have convinced myself florals aren’t so stuffy anymore. Distressed, high waisted jeans and platform sneakers balance out the femininity of the floral top (c/o Mulberry & Grand). I accessorized with my go-to cat eye sunglasses and these beautiful lavender drop earrings I snagged at Target. (Anyone else obsessed with their A New Day line?)

In other news, we got a new midcentury modern chair for our living room. I’ve deemed her my baby (her name is Clarice, and I bought the scotch guard to protect her, too). My friend’s apartment building was selling furniture they used to stage apartment units, and I got a discount on it. I can’t wait to show you guys how good she looks in the space. And the good news is that it’s brand new (it’s even still on the Williams Sonoma site). I’ll be putting together a post on little pieces for the new season I’m sprucing my apartment up with soon, included Clarice the chair.

Hope you’re all having a great week! Outfit details are below. And as always, follow along on Instagram to stay up to date!
