COZY & COOL GO-TO WINTER OUTFIT

Welp, we’re four days into December and it’s 60 degrees here in NYC today, babes! But winter is coming, that’s for sure (not a GOT reference because I’ve seen exactly zero episodes), if it hasn’t hit where you live yet. And when it does, it’ll be fucking cold. You’re gonna want to have a go-to warm winter outfit, but still look cool. Yes, Ralphie’s little brother in A Christmas Story was cute all bundled up, but I’m not so sure we’d be able to rock that look (…or maybe we could?).

Rich and I are planning to drive back to Illinois for Christmas, and it’s always incredibly cold there during the winter season. This outfit, which I’ve been able to wear sans coat here in NYC, will be perfect with my quilted puffer coat when we get to IL and there’s probably 6 inches of snow on the ground.

Let’s break down WHY this outfit is so cozy, and why I love it so much.

  1. The Softest, Warmest Chenille Duster Cardigan – This one size fits all duster sweater from Mulberry & Grand is the softest thing I own. So soft, that when I wear it, Speedy tried to dig into it like it’s a blanket. The key is the chenille fabric and the length, which gives you more coverage, and makes the outfit pop.
  2. Faux Leather Leggings – These babies from H&M are amazing because they’re on trend AND when a blast of arctic air hits you, it doesn’t pass through them at all, but that’s the case with all faux leather leggings. One of the pleasures of synthetic material! I love a pair with special details, like zippers, snaps and a high waist. They great with a flowy peasant top.
  3. Plaid Scarf – This neutral plaid scarf from Target goes with everything, plus is dual sided, so it’s two looks for the price of one. It’s so warm!
  4. Fur Mule Slides – These may look the like the Gucci shoes everyone is freaking about, but they’re not! Literally every time I wear these I’ve gotten several compliments and someone points at my feet and yells, “Gucci!” Truth? They’re actually from Target, and they’re $25. You may think an open-back shoe wouldn’t be warm in the winter, but the fur keeps your feet super cozy.
  5. Wool Beret – I feel so Euro-chic when I wear this beret from Mulberry & Grand. It looks great with my new short hair, but it works with all hair types. And it’s SUPER on trend right now.
